Day 2 - Warkworth to Mangawhai

From Warkworth we left Phil and Helen and headed north on beautiful backcountry roads. Perfect weather, and apart from one massive (MASSIVE) hill, the riding was excellent.

This is the view from (almost) the top of Mount Everest during one of my many stops along the way. The view alone was worth it!!

Another stop along the way, looking back...

And the beautiful NZ countryside:
In Mangawhai (note: wh = "f" sound in Maori, so that reads like "Mangafai") we set up tent at a camping spot and made a big pot of pasta...so hungry.

Distance for the day: 50km, Elevation gained: 768km (pretty much all on that one hill I think...); Ave. speed: 15.2 (an improvement from the day before!).
