Motueka to Tapawera

Thursday, October 30, 2014

Left Motueka and enjoyed a beautifully stunning ride through the country side in SUN. This back route was really beautiful. At one point I was enjoying the green rolling hills and spring smells, and then I turned a bend and looked over my should – there behind me was a snow-covered mountain peak. Really?! I had no idea I was near any of those!

Kept going and it was just an all-out beautiful day. The wind did pick up, and the sun stopped shining through the clouds so much, so that by the time I arrived in Tapawera (SMALL town/junction if you will) and found a public toilet and then, of course, a cute little café, I was no longer motivated to continue on (the next day’s ride, however, proved that this was a good outcome…). I had a pot of tea and began reading a book I picked up at the campsite in Havelock: Born Again, by Charles Colsen. I’ve been wanting to read this… and I love testimonies from people that God has done incredible things through, so it was a good find. At 4 the café closed, so I headed down to Settle, the super-rustic old campsite in Tapawera where I could set up my tent, have a hot shower, and cook dinner.

Tina, the owner of Settle, was sweet. She told me all about the new $3 red Christmas/Santa Claus shirt she just bought at the store down the road (shh…don’t tell her husband!), and since she was in such a good mood because of that shirt, she gave me free wi-fi for the night. That was nice. It actually worked, so I could blog and then skype with Becca!

Had a nice sleep in my tent again. J
